3 Exercises to Relieve Aching legs & Improve Circulation Whilst Sitting

As we know, compression socks, stockings and tights help to relieve aching legs & improve blood circulation in the feet, legs and ankles. This has the effect of relieving the symptoms of tired and aching legs and preventing the deterioration of varicose veins.

As well as using compression-socks, there are also a number of other things you can do to improve circulation, but in this post we’re going to focus on what you can do whilst sitting to get the blood moving a little more freely.

Whether you spend the day chained to a desk or are looking to keep active whilst on a long haul flight, these exercises are easy to do and can help to keep your legs healthy and keep the blood moving

3 exercises to improve circulation whilst sitting - Tired and Aching Legs. Poor Blood Circulation - Compression Socks

1: Foot Flex

Sit with your feet flat on the floor. Lift your left foot a few inches off the floor. Stretch your lower leg slightly (below the knee) and point your toes down, pointing to the floor. Hold for 5 seconds. Raise your toes to point upwards. Hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times on each foot.

2: Ankle Rotation

The ankle rotation can easily be performed at your desk, in the car or when flying.

Simply rotate your ankles for 30 seconds in a clockwise direction, then repeat this in an anticlockwise direction for a further 30 seconds

3: Calf Stretch

Feet exercises are a good way to keep the blood flowing through the whole leg, and the exercises are easy to do at the desk or whilst travelling.

Whilst seated, simply place your weight on your toes whilst lifting your heels up, holding the position for 3 seconds before placing your feet flat to the floor. Then, keep your heels on the floor and point your toes towards the sky. Do this ten times with each foot.

Compression socks are great for improving circulation and alleviating the symptoms of poor blood flow through the legs and feet.

Coupled with the right diet and some simple exercises that you can do at work or whilst travelling, you could quickly and easily see the health benefits that come from an improvement to your circulation.
